Determigene: Paternity, Ancestry, and Security
Determigene is a DNA testing company that offers various services. This company was awarded the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) certification in 1996, and has passed every other assessment by AABB. Some other departments Determigene has met the standards for include ACLASS Accreditation Services, the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors/Laboratory Accreditation Board, the College of American Pathologists, the New York State Department of Health, and the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments.

With all this accreditation, you can be sure you are getting the highest quality DNA tests. Determigene says on their website that paternity/maternity tests will be between 0% and 99.9+% accurate. Most tests have to be scheduled with Determigene over the phone. Some tests can be done at one of their national offices, others are done at home with a kit. Generally you will get results between 2 and 5 business days, depending on what test you are taking. Once the results are in, you will get a call, e-mail, and letter from Determigene.

So, what tests does this company actually offer? The Standard Test that Determigene offers is a paternity test. The non-legal version of this test can be done at home in a self-collection kit and costs $195. The legal test must be done at a Determigene facility and costs $395. It takes about two days to get results from your DNA swabs in both of these tests.

Although paternity tests are the standard offered by Determigene, they also offer grandpaternty tests and prenatal DNA tests. Prices for these tests range from $395 to $1,495. Depending on whether you are looking for official legal tests or non-legal tests will also determine the prices of these tests.

Determigene can also fulfill immigrant DNA requirements for $395. Some other miscellaneous DNA tests offered include sibling, twins, and infidelity tests.

One huge service offered by Determigene is their ancestry test package. With the Full Spectrum test, you will receive a thorough analysis of your genome, a myDNA ID card, an official certificate that displays your Predominant, Secondary, and Minority matches, free online results of your DNA, and an atlas that shows genetic ties to different ethnic groups around the world. This entire package costs $299 and can be filled out in the privacy of your home before sending it off for lab testing.

The final test offered by Determigene is the DNA Safeguarding test for $95. This test is done for peace of mind. Parents just need to take a swab of their child’s cheek, send in the swab to Determigene, and you will receive an ID card with Determigene’s number on it. Determigene will hold your child’s DNA sample at their facilities. So, instead of just having a photo to go by in case of an abduction, this test will preserve your child’s DNA to help you resolve a crisis situation with greater efficiency.

Currently Determigene is given great ratings on TrustPilot. Note, none of Determigene’s services include looking into your predisposition to certain genetic diseases. However, if you are interested in any of the services mentioned in this short article, Determigene will help you.
